Eastman Chemical Company, Kingsport, TN, 1988 – 2009

Project Engineer, 1997 - 2009

Supported R&D and Technical Service (Technology) defining project scope, negotiating purchases, managing budgets, identifying process improvements, coordinating resources, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

• Mentored new employees and assisted team members to succeed in development.

• Reduced Technology’s energy bill $160K/yr by taking initiative to cut HVAC supply in areas where hoods or space non-utilized

• Managed Technology’s $600K/yr capital maintenance budget, 5 year HVAC plan, and associated projects

• Managed $3M renovation of plastics laboratory, including specification and purchase of equipment, field coordination of installation and start-up; also included elaborate material handling system for conveying and drying plastic pellets.

• Specified and installed complete glycol chiller system for piloting operations to provide 40 tons of uninterrupted cooling at 20 F

• Reengineered sewer system to reduce maintenance costs by $50K/annually.
